Was this the right way to correct my Akita?
I just bought the book "Akita - Treasure of Japan" by Barbara Bouyet.I just read the part about training the dog and how to enforce NO when he misbehaves. Maybe one can shake the dog a little, or push it aside. This got me thinking about a situation I had with my dog the previous week. I was going to practice with him some tricks. I was grabbing some bread (I use small pieces of bread as treats) to set it up on the table for the training session. When I grabbed the bread the dog came and snatched it from my hand and started eating it! I instantly yelled NO and opened his mouth and grabbed the chewed bread. My dog is a large 8 year old Akita. Was this a good way of correction the behavior? Somebody has any input?
