Can i take methadone...please help?

i am going on holiday to tenerife in a weeks time can i take methadone into the country or do i need some sort of permission my drugs worker says that as it is part of europe i don't need to do anything but i am petrified i will be arrested for taking a controlled substance into the country without permission please help.
