Does anyone know what I can do to soothe a sore throat?

I have the worst sore throat I have ever had went to dr yesterday said I didn't have strep but I have a lot of drainage that was causing my sore throat to hurt. She gave a antibiotic and pain med it is not helping at all I have only sleep 2 hours cuz my throat is so sore please any suggestions I am know sick to my stomach also but no fever.
